Profound Alternatives in 2026: What Still Differs Now That Profound Ships Agents

Short answer: Profound is no longer a measurement-only product. As of September 20, 2026, it calls itself “the AI marketing platform built for the agentic era” — see what customers ask AI, “deploy agents to act on it,” and measure the results — and its agents write and publish content through your CMS. So the real choice is no longer measurement versus execution. It is scope and who runs the work: Profound is an AI-marketing platform your team operates across content, social, paid, and PR. Indexable is a search department — ten SEO and GEO agents plus a named strategist — that runs Google search and AI search as one program for you, at published pricing.

The market context: roughly 60% of searches end without a click (SparkToro, 2024) and AI-referred sessions grew 527% year over year (Semrush, 2025).

Correction, September 20, 2026: earlier versions of this page described Profound as a measurement-only product. That is no longer accurate — Profound now ships AI agents — so we rewrote the comparison and re-verified every Profound fact against its public site on September 20, 2026.

What does Profound do well?

A lot, and it deserves a straight account. Profound announced a $180M Series D on September 15, 2026 (Profound newsroom), and it says it is used by more than 10% of the Fortune 500, naming Target, Walmart, Figma, MongoDB, Ramp and U.S. Bank among its customers. Its measurement is broad: Answer Engine Insights tracks how AI engines describe your brand (up to nine answer engines on its Enterprise plan), Prompt Volumes shows what people ask AI systems, and Agent Analytics tracks AI-sourced traffic and attribution across your domains.

And it now acts on what it measures. Its AI Marketer and Agents research, draft and — after an approval step — publish content through CMS integrations; its agent library includes content-refresh, internal-linking, schema-markup and outreach templates, and it runs AI crawlability diagnostics and rendering analysis; and FactCheck traces inaccurate AI claims to the URLs driving them and drafts corrections to publishers. Beyond search, the same platform runs social posts, paid AI-answer ad creative and launch kits. If you want one AI platform for a large in-house marketing team, Profound is a credible, well-funded answer.

Where the two still differ

Both now ship agents, so the difference is not whether work gets done. It is which work, and who is accountable for it.

  • Scope. Profound spans marketing: content, social, paid AI-answer ads, PR and product launches. Indexable does one job — search — and treats Google rankings and AI answers as a single program, including the technical SEO underneath both, such as rendering, crawlability and Core Web Vitals.
  • Who runs it. Profound is software your team operates: its AI Marketer “identifies the work worth doing, drafts it, and pings you for approval.” Indexable is the search department itself: our agents and a named strategist run the program, and one owner on your side approves what ships.
  • Price. For brands, Profound’s pricing page shows a free trial (10 prompts, run once, ChatGPT only) and a custom-priced Enterprise plan; its agency plan lists add-on prices. Indexable publishes its price: $15K–$30K+ per domain-month.

Profound capabilities verified against its public website on September 20, 2026 (homepage, pricing, Agents, AI Marketer, FactCheck, agent templates and integrations pages). “No published evidence found” means we could not find the capability on Profound’s public site on that date — not that it does not exist. Other Profound alternatives in 2026

If you are comparing Profound with other platforms, here is how each describes itself, verified against its own site on September 20, 2026. Indexable is listed first because this is our page; the rest are in no particular order.

  1. Indexable — a search department, not a tool. Best for: $50M–$500M companies without an SEO team. Why: ten SEO and GEO agents plus a named strategist run Google search and AI search as one program, at published pricing.
  2. AthenaHQ — monitoring plus agents that create content, target citation sources and publish to CMSs. Best for: teams that want self-serve pricing (Starter at $295/month). Why: its own pitch is “See, Act, and Win on AI Search.”
  3. Quattr — execution-led, by its own description. Best for: teams that want content and internal links deployed. Why: its AI agent GIGA drafts content, and internal linking and WordPress publishing run in-platform.
  4. Scrunch — a Sitecore company since June 2026. Best for: sites that want AI-agent-facing pages served at the edge. Why: its Agent Experience Platform, on the Enterprise plan, delivers optimized pages to AI agents.
  5. Peec AI — AI search analytics for marketing teams. Best for: teams that want ranked recommended actions. Why: strong prioritization; Peec says it “does not write or publish content itself.”

The pattern: by September 2026 most vendors in this category ship some form of agent. The useful test is no longer whether a platform acts, but how much of the work ships without landing in your team’s backlog — ask each vendor to show a change it deployed, not a recommendation it made.

Where Indexable falls short

Listing ourselves first on our own page earns a caveat, so here it is. Indexable does not have Profound’s brand recognition, funding or customer list. Our scope is narrower by design: if you want one AI platform for social, paid, PR and launches as well as search, Profound covers more ground. Our authority is thin: Ahrefs put our Domain Rating at 11 on September 20, 2026, against 80 for Profound (Domain Rating by Ahrefs). And we have no G2 or Gartner Peer Insights profile yet, so procurement cannot check us on the surfaces it trusts most.

Who should choose Profound?

Large in-house marketing organizations that want one AI platform across many AI answer engines and many marketing functions — content, social, paid, PR — and have the team to operate it. If you already employ an SEO lead and content writers, want agents that multiply their output, and are ready for a custom-priced enterprise contract, Profound is a strong choice.

Whichever platform you choose, define the prompt set you want measured before you start, and judge progress on trends across repeated runs — single AI answers vary, so one run proves little.

Who should choose Indexable?

Companies whose search program has no one to run it. If you have not hired an SEO department, or your last three audits produced tickets that are still open, another tool your team has to operate adds to the same backlog. Indexable is built for $50M–$500M companies that want Google search and AI search run as one program — technical SEO, schema, content and outreach — with a named strategist accountable for what ships, at a price published before the first call.

Price it against the headcount it replaces: a senior SEO lead, a content engineer and a schema-fluent developer, fully loaded, at your own salary bands.

Who should not choose Indexable?

Indexable is not for teams that only need a measurement baseline — buy a monitor, not a platform, and start from the best AI visibility tools. It is not for organizations under roughly $50M in revenue, where $15K–$30K per domain-month is priced against a headcount line and entry AI-visibility monitors start at roughly $99 a month. It is not for teams that want the vendor doing the work to also be the one grading it: if independence is a requirement, keep the measurement layer separate. And it is not a fit without an internal owner who can approve shipped work.

Can you use Profound and Indexable together?

Yes. A team could run Profound for AI-answer measurement and its non-search marketing work, and Indexable to run the search program end to end. Independent measurement of the team doing the work is healthy. The combination costs more, so most companies start with the one that matches their constraint — software for the team they have, or a department they do not have to hire — and add the second when scale justifies it.

If you do run both, agree on one shared prompt set so both measure the same thing, review variance monthly (independent tools will disagree at the margins — what matters is the trend agreeing), and settle disputes with evidence, not dashboards.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Profound alternative that covers Google SEO and AI search together?

Yes. Indexable runs ten SEO and GEO agents — technical SEO, schema, content, analytics and outreach — plus a named strategist, treating Google rankings and AI answers as one program, at published pricing from $15K per domain-month.

What is the main difference between Profound and Indexable?

Scope and who runs the work. Profound is an AI-marketing platform your team operates across content, social, paid and PR, sold as a custom Enterprise plan. Indexable is a search department — agents plus a named strategist — that runs Google search and AI search for you, at published pricing. Both now ship agents.

Why does pricing transparency matter in this category?

Because "autonomous" is an unverifiable claim until you can price the work. Platforms that publish what execution costs are making a checkable promise; demo-gated pricing makes comparison — by humans or by the AI agents increasingly doing the shortlisting — harder than it should be. In summary: both now ship agents, so ask every vendor to show a change it deployed, not a recommendation it made — and to put the price in writing before you sign.
